Prison Rules - a working guide

This book is a comprehensive guide to the rules and regulations by which our prisons are run. Each Prison Rule Is cited in full with the relevant Prison Service Orders and Prison Service Instructions. Prison Rules: A Working Guide quotes extensively from the case-law on prisoners' rights and entitlements. It also draws upon reports from HM Chief Inspector of Prisons and successive official reports and inquiries. www.prisonreformtrust.org.uk photograph

Prisoners & families

At Prison Reform Trust we have an advice and information service. We help people in prison, their family and friends and those working with prisoners who have queries.

We can give you information on any aspect of the prison system. We can explain the rules and regulations in a clear way and give advice and support.

If you have any questions, please contact us.

We can sometimes write to a prison about difficulties. However, if someone in prison is having problems, we will usually need their permission before we can take action. If you would like us to write to a prisoner directly, please call us. We can send people in prison information booklets or factsheets.

If you have a member of your family or a friend in prison who has any questions or difficulties please give them our details.

If we cannot help we can usually tell you about an organisation that can.

We do not give legal advice or provide counselling.

Contact us here if there is anything you could not find out about on the website.
